Setting Up Wireless Network Help...

So again I would like to post some tech wisdom I have gained from personal experience in setting up a wireless network. This is just a simple hint that could possibly save you some head aches and frustration when trying to get your home wireless network working well....

I have learned from reading other blogs and tech forums that when you are setting up security on your home wireless network the easiest and best solution for being compatibly with most computers/internet devices is the WPA security. It seems WEP security is really phasing out and not as compatibly with all internet devices. I was having much frustration with WEP security in dropping the connection and even initiating a good connections with my computers/internet devices. Plus having long hex pass keys is just a waste of time now... I totally recommend using WPA for wireless security for your home network!

Another tech thing I discovered....

So I have recently purchased the iPad. It is a great tool! I recommend it on multiple levels! However, it does not replace the laptop yet. For one you need a laptop to register the iPad when you first open it up and plug it in.

So my discovering and help to all that read this if they ever get an iPad...

I had saved photos from web pages to put into documents I was creating using Pages for the iPad. (side note...) Another fun word processing tool for the iPad. It takes a little time getting used using Pages for the iPad (using your fingers from everything), but it is actually fun to create documents and do word processing!

Ok back to tech discovery and help for others...

Like I said before I had saved photos from web pages to put into documents I was creating and so when I touched (not clicked...FUN!) SAVE PHOTO it went to a "Save Photos" album in my Photos application. I saved Gifs, PNGs, JPegs, Tiffs... And it worked fine viewing them within my Photo Application and also importing them into Pages. However, when I went to connect my iPad to my Macbook my iPad would no longer was seen in my iPhoto so I could not import any of the photos I saved in my "Save Photos" album. Also, I imported photos to my iPad from my camera and then saved to iPad with no problem and I can view them with no problem. But again, I connected my iPad to my Macbook and I could import the photos that I saved from my camera to my iPad to my Macbook via iPhoto. My iPad still would not appear in iPhoto nor was it recognized by the "Image Capture" program on my Macbook to show all devices that can import photos to my Macbook. I could sync my iPad with iTunes and it appeared in iTunes with no problem, but my iPad would not appear in iPhoto at all. I tried different things to try to get iPhoto on my Macbook to recognize my iPad, but everything I tried failed.

So I called Apple support and they told me that there is a problem with the iPad software when you save photos from websites to your iPad. It seems that the different photo file formats throws the iPad OS off and makes the iPad no longer seen as a "camera" to import photos into iPhoto. So that is why I mentioned in the beginning of this post that I saved photos from the web on my iPad. So the Apple support guy said to just delete all the photos in the "Saved Photos" Album and your iPad will then appear in iPhoto and you will be able to import all the photos you saved/imported to your iPad from your camera to iPhoto on your Macbook. So I deleted all the photos from the "Saved Photos" Album and it WORKED! Once I deleted those photos when I reconnected my iPad to my Macbook I could see my iPad in iPhoto on my Macbook and could import the photos I saved/imported to my iPad from my camera.

The Apple support guy said it is a glitch in the iPad software that they are working on to fix soon, so that you don't have to worry about when you save photos from the web or from an email or somewhere else to your Photo Application that it would then stop being recognized as a camera when you connect your iPad to a computer to import the photos you saved or imported from a camera.

I hope this could be a helpful tech help to someone out there... I searched on the internet to see if anyone else was facing this same problem and it seemed that people were not. So here I am adding my issue and experiences to the world wide web for all those who my care or need help..... :-)

Something I discovered....

Sometimes I think I need to add to the online knowledge of things when I discover something that I did not discover online (which a lot of times is where I get a lot of my information...). I know when I am in a jam with some type of electronic I go online to see if there was anyone who had the same struggle in hopes to find an answer to my problem. However, I hardly ever add answers or help to the online community when I discover something. I think about adding some discoveries I find in order to help others that may be going through the same problems, but a lot of times I forget blog my discoveries.

So...let me add an answer/help to the online community at large with a certain electronic called the WD TV Media Player (Western Digital TV Video, Music and Photo Player). I have the WD TV Media Player and I found out that if you encode a DVD you own using HandBrake for Mac OS X to a .m4v video file the WD TV player can play this file, but the WD TV cannot rewind or fast forward through the video. UNLESS, you change the extension from .m4v to .mp4 file extension. Then the WD TV player recognizes that file better and you can then rewind and fast forward without any problem.

There is my revelation/discovery with the WD TV player. It did frustrate me when I encoded a DVD to a .m4v video file and I could not rewind or fast forward through the video on my WD TV, but now I can by just changing the file extension. I hope that helps someone else who may have this device.

Watching the Olympics!!

It is so fun to watch the Olympics! I love it!! I normally do not watch sports on TV (just do not have the time, most of the time), but I do take the time to watch the Olympics. It is different then just watching American basketball or football. I love seeing the world come together and compete (the good competing). I get so much joy in my heart to watch the different representatives from their country compete. There is so much unity! It makes the world and all the cultures seem so near... The Olympics bring the world together and what a blessing to see!!

If you have not seen the opening ceremony of this year's Olympics in Beijing you are missing out. It was amazing!! I think it was amazing and overwhelming and maybe a little bit intimidating. The Chinese people have showed the world they what to welcome new friends and show they have not held back anything to make this Olympics a very special one. Just the amount of people who were involved in the opening ceremony is just awesome! There were 15,000 performers in this year's opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics. And we all know that the China has the people to pull off such an amazing performance. So recently I was able to get a new camera and I bought a nice digital Kodak camera and I have been having fun learning how to really capture good photos. I went to a park yesterday with my wife and I tried to capture so good pics at dusk time. It was a lot fun to try to adjust the settings and capture the best shot. Check out some of my pics below... I hope to capture more and get better at this.

Well... It has been a little while since I have posted anything. (sorry to all those intense bloggers out there...). So my wife is still pregnant. She is due August 30th. I have felt it has been a long pregnancy. I thought it would go fast, but wow, 40 weeks is a long time (at least when you are waiting for your baby to be born). I just cannot wait to see my new baby boy!!! I cannot wait to hold him, read to him, play with him and just spend time with him. I am WAY excited!! His name is going to be Elijah Luke Schreiner. (the photo is a ultra sound pic of our baby boy at 34 weeks)

We decided on the name Elijah after the prophet Elijah in the Bible. I love the account of Elijah recorded in the Bible in 1 Kings 18-19. The prophet Elijah shows so much confidence in the Lord, but also so much humility and reverent fear for God. Elijah in 1 Kings 18 proves to the Israelites that his God is the only true God by taunting the prophets of Baal. He showed great faith in his God. However, right after that great victory from God, in 1 Kings 19, we see Elijah running away and hiding in a cave, because he is afraid for his life. The Israelites were going to kill him. You would think by then Elijah would not be so afraid for his life, because of what he has seen God do through him...(a great victory over the prophets of Baal and other amazing things through Elijah, like prayed to raise a boy from the dead-1 Kings 17:17-24). However, Elijah still did not think of himself as anything (for he felt that his life would be taken from him because of the things he had done for God). However, Elijah always declared his passion for God - "I have been very zealous for the Lord God almighty" (1 Kings 19:10 & 14).

I also love how God revealed himself to the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 19. When Elijah was hiding in a cave the Lord passed by Elijah, and it was not in some great and amazing way, but in a gentle whisper. I think of God coming and revealing himself in some great fanfare and amazing declaration, especially to the prophet Elijah. However, God came to Elijah in a gentle whisper, not in some great fanfare. How we now need to listen closely to God and not expect some amazing sign from God, but even in gentle whispers God can come, speak and reveal Himself to us.

I desire for our baby boy, Elijah, to grow up to be a man who is confident in God through Jesus Christ as well as humble in thinking he is nothing without God's protection, provision, and grace in his life. I also, desire for our baby boy to grow up and be a man who listens intently to God and does not think God should reveal himself in big ways, but even in the little things (the whispers) he would see and recognize God in His life.

Will keep you updated on how our baby boy, Elijah, is and growing up in the week, months and years to come... :)

My wife is pregnant!!!

Yes, it is true... My Amy babe is pregnant!! It is amazing. And I am not going to be one of those guys who says, "We are pregnant..." I am not pregnant it is my wife who is pregnant. However, I understand when people say that because the father is just as much a part of it as the mother... But I do have to say that the woman is much more involved with being pregnant then then the man is. Of course I am a part of bringing a child into this world, but I am giving the props to my wife to handle all the changes that a body undergoes by being pregnant. I am committed to my wife to help her through this process, but I probably will not understand completely what she is going through. And I am grateful to my wife in how she is staying strong through it all.

So... again, my wife is pregnant! I am excited! I am not sure yet what it means to be a father yet (I mean in the whole heart sense of it). I think I have a good idea of what it means to be a dad, but I think I need to learn more as well. And I want to be guided by my heavenly Father, God, to guide me into fatherhood. I am trying to allow God to father me more and more and through that I want to learn to be a great father.

A new step in life... And knowing that a life is growing inside my wife is amazing. It is truly a God thing!! Check out the ultra sound below after 7 weeks. We could see the heart heart. Amy is 9 weeks pregnant today...

So I just recently was organizing all my web bookmarks in my web browser (using Safari for Mac OS X) and I realize I have a lot of bookmarks! : ) And I think I have lost some of my bookmarks, but I am not sure because I have so many...

Well... Lee Strobel, author and speaker, has a GREAT website if you like video. A lot of resources on the web are mostly in written form and you have to read it (sometimes they are long reads). And if you are not a reader this could be tiresome. Lee Strobel archives his resources for the public by video. It is really nice. He helps those investigate faith and dig deeper into the person of Jesus Christ. The issues of God's existence, proof of Jesus being God and the reliability of the Bible are some of the issues that are at hand on this website. All for those to sit back and listen and watch the interaction between different professors, scientists and others.

My wife, a beautiful dancer!

Ok... I have to tell the world (since I have a blog) that my wife is beautiful!!! I will shout it out and let everyone know... Amy Schreiner is a wonderful and beautiful dancer! I have been blessed these past 9 years to dance along side my babe in LION Players and she has gotten better and better every year. She has such great form and is so strong (just look at the pic above)! I love to dance, but now I really love to dance as long as my beautiful wife is beside me. She makes me look good!!

Amy, has choreographed some of her own dances and WOW they have been awesome... I knew I married a cool chick, but maybe I did not realize it as first... I really did marry a COOL chick! She is a dancer!! And a pretty good one... She wants to tell the world through her dance that God is love and that HE can set people free as Christ has set her free in many ways. If you have not seen her dance I hope you have a chance to... : )

People not repsecting the siren and lights

So... I have been seeing lately as I am driving how people do not respect a ambulance or fire truck or a police car when they their lights and/or siren is on. Is it not the law that you have to pull over to the side of the road as far as you can to make clear path for them? Dont both sides of traffic need to pull over?? Well... It is just so fustrating that people are not thinking about the emergcy vehicles well being and how the best to serve them by getting out of the way. HEY, you think you are in a hurry, they are more! So get over, stop and make sure they have a clear path to get through

Ok... That is just a pet pev... Just voicing it.

Bloggers Nightmare...

Ok... I am every bloggers nightmare, because I have not posted a blog in over 6 months. YIKES! That is pretty bad (I know). I am sorry to everyone who has viewed my blog and got frustrated or maybe upset that I have not updated it for so long. Well... here you is an update. This is an update to say sorry and a pledge to all that I will post updates more often (well that can be every 4 months if I go by what I had done in the past, HA!). No, no... Directing LION Players...

Amy and I have been directing LION Players for the last 4 to 5 months since our current director has been away in Ukraine teaching and ministring in Jesus name over there. It has been a great adventure and we have learned so much and have just grow more in love with the LION Players and what we get to do in proclaiming God's truth through the performing arts! God has taught us that each step for our team and in everything we do needs to be totally dependant on HIM. We cannot plan or try to put something together on our own strength. It just doesn't work... Also, we have learned as leaders that we need to be so much in the Word of God! I mean really in The Word!! Keeping that in the forefront of all that we are doing with our team. Whether creating new things, refining old things or directing our team to move forward in all that God has for us. God's truth needs to be saturating our lives...

I have to give a shout out to all the LION Players who have been working so hard in rehearsing and being flexible with us as we lead. Our team is a group of young people who are so committed to Jesus. I am grateful to be leading such a team! Thanks LION Players!! (and thanks to Solomon, Tony and Tim for taking these pics!)... Geocaching!!

So have you ever been geocaching?? It is a fun game/sport. Just this past weekend Amy and I went to spend a fun weekend with our friends, Brian and Sara at a National Park in Ohio called: Mohican State Park. We got to stay at beautiful cabin and build a fire, play games, hike and just have fun.

One of fun things we did is go geocaching... Now to geocache you need a cool handheld GPS (Global Positioning System). Because geocaching is a world wide treasure hunt! People all over the world have place caches in different locations. It can be either a micro cache, traditional cache, travel bugs or other things that can be hide and planted for others to discover. So you go onto the geocache website, www.geocaching.com . Put in a zip code or city name and then a list of geocaches come up in the area you request to see. From there you are given GPS Coordinates (a series of numbers either North or South then numbers and either East or West then a series of numbers) and maybe some hints to help you find the cache. During our time in Mohican State we found two geocaches! It is always satisfying to find the cache! I love finding it! These two we found were traditional caches that had fun stuff inside the container. And the one cache took us on a very long hike and even doing some major mountain (or big hill) climbing! Amy thought when we were climbing up this huge steep hill we were going to fall and die, but we survived. You never know were a cache could lead you when you are following the GPS...

Florida & Walt Disney World

Have not blogged in a while... One fun thing that we got to do recently...

A couple of weeks ago got Amy and I where able to travel down to Florida and visit my parents for 4 days. While we were there we had a chance to go to Walt Disney World...now that was fun! Amy has never been to Disney World and she always wanted to go as a little girl. My parents blessed us so much that they provided our way to go and it made Amy's dream of going come true (Thank you Mom and Dad!). We enjoyed every minute we were there. We had a such a blast! Disney World is not just for kids it is for big kids at heart! And at end of the day during the fireworks presentation Amy was even crying because of how special the day was. If you have an imagination and love to play and have adventures then you will fit right into enjoying Walt Disney World...

Out of all our days in Florida our day at Disney World was the best day weather wise... We have gone done to Florida a couple times now to visit my parents and it seems every time to go down we bring the lovely Ohio weather with us...cloudy and cool. And then when we leave the next week is usually the best week (weather wise) for that month. Oh well...at least there was no snow on the ground...

ACCC Youth ALL-Nighter!

This is a photo of me during the ACCC Youth Winter Retreat I put together and lead. It was an ALL-Nighter! Crazy fun, but crazy tired now!! I am asking myself now, why did I do that? I thought at first when I was almost through the whole night, "I can do this, no problem." BUT then it hit me around 4:45 am. I was really tired! It was FUN though. The photo is the youth playing a game called "Fruit Swat." It was pretty fun (thanks Brian for the idea!). Amy did awesome at bowling that night (especially since we hardly ever go bowling)! She is such an athlete! And she was a huge help to be for getting everything together for this youth event (I love you babe!) Ice Skating - FUN!!

I had fun ice skating with my beautiful wife! We went to downtown Akron and enjoyed the "Holidayfest!" There was a cool Germany village/market place setup and great German food! It was a great time and there a cool German band that played too!

Christmas Activities!

Amy and I got through another fun filled and packed Christmas season... We had a going away party for some of our Korean friends, a fun Christmas party with LION Players, a little Christmas party with the Chinese Youth ( acccyouth.com ) and traveling on Christmas eve and Christmas day to visit family (from Canton South to Celveland, Ohio). "Barrier of Thorns" OPENING PERFORMANCE!

LION Players are doing a brand new drama piece called, "Barrier of Thorns." It is a full length play. We have never done a full length play before. It is a huge project and a challenge to put it all together, but it is a dynamic and powerful drama. Ralph Lumley (one of the LION Players) has wrote it and is the director as well.

I am excited to perform it and continue to perform in the future. Our opening night for "Barrier of Thorns" is today, Friday December 8 and Saturday December 9, 2006 at 7:00 pm at NOIZ in downtown Akron. If you can come please do! Making ACCC Youth Website interactive...

So I have updated the Akron Chinese Christian Church Youth website (ACCC Youth - www.acccyouth.com) with a new feature - a youth blog/forum. I really want the ACCC youth to interact more on the ACCC youth website with questions about God, asking about what is going on with the ACCC Youth or just leaving a comment or a post saying hi or something. Hanging out with Brian and Sara...

Hung out with our good friends Brian and Sara last Saturday night and went download Cleveland to see the lighting of the Christmas tree and the parade. However, there was a good mob of people near the street when we got there and so we really did not see much of the parade, but they it was fun just being in the crowd. It was such a great night for the parade and the lighting of the Christmas tree. It was around 50 degrees and hardly a cloud in the sky.

The lighting of the Christmas tree was cool, but I just expected the tree to be bigger or something. It was my first time at this downtown Cleveland event (it is called Winterfest). But it was still cool and I got a great photo of the tree being lit and caught the fireworks in the background.

We caught the end of the a choir singing in the Old Stone church in downtown. That is a beautiful church! The wood in there is just gorgeous.

Great Thanksgiving with Family and Friends!

I love the Korean culture!

I just have to say I love the Korean culture... Last week I helped out some of my Korean friends with a Korean presentation during International Education week at the University of Akron. They put together a great presentation! Some of my Korean friends dressed me up in a cool traditional Korean costume so I can really get into the whole feel of Korea!!

LION Players new cast...

We have some new players in LION Players now! We are working hard on a new drama piece called, "Barrier of Thorns." It is another orginial LION Players piece that is set in medieval lands, and about a troupe of traveling circus performers encounter a woodland creature who offers to help fulfill desires. Once the pact is made the troupe finds itself confined within an unnatural barrier of thorns with no way out. Left to their own devices, the troupe quickly slides into a depraved state. As darkness descends, does any hope of rescue remain? More on... www.lionplayers.com

We took a new photo of our team. It is a pretty funny photo that represents the dynamic of our team now. What a GREAT team! I love being a part of this team in using the performing arts to share God's story of love and redemption!

I just have to post that my wife, Amy, is the coolest and the best! We lead the ACCC Youth to Fun-n-Stuff to have a Night of FUN! It was a good time. There was a rock climbing wall at Fun-n-Stuff and Amy was determined to climb the wall and make it to the top. She really woked hard at climbing the wall. She is such an athletic babe! I love it!! 30th Birthday Party!

This year Amy and I are both turning 30. Amy already has and I am soon to follow. My birthday is not until Dec. 18th and Amy's birthday is Sept. 30th. Wow, leaving the 20's and going on to the 30's. I think I will like my 30's... It is a good age where now people will hopefully see that I am not just a kid anymore Not that I mind being a kid... :) I love doing stuff with youth, but there are times now where I run into people where they might think that I really do not know much on a situation because of being in my 20's. Not always, just sometimes...

So anyways, we decided to have one big 30th birthday party for both of us on Oct 27th. And we decided to have a costume party! Amy and I dressed up as a King and Queen. It was a lot of fun. We played some drama improv games, which is always a standard for LION Players at parties! We also had a costume contest/fashion show. Just fun times! Below are some photos from the party.

Hanging Out at OSU...

A couple of weeks ago we went down to good old OSU (The Ohio State) to visit some students from the Akron Chinese Church youth group. Amy had to go down to OSU for work, so I decided to tag along with Amy and as Amy worked and did her recruiting thing I visited students from the ACCC youth group.

It is just fun going to OSU because of the hype and enthusiasm of the awesome OSU football team!! WOW what a great year for OSU football! And Columbus (near OSU) is just a fun place to hang out...

Anyways, It was so good to see the students from the ACCC youth group. I had 6 students graduate from High School (and the ACCC Youth group) this year. It was hard this year to say goodbye to such great students. But God has brought some new Jr. High and High School students that I am enjoying getting to know. What a blessing that I get to build into and encourage students to live for Christ and how to apply the Word of God in their life.

It was really good to see the ACCC Youth that went on the China Mission Trip this past summer. I miss the times we spent together just building into the lives of orphans and sharing God's love. Serving in the orphanage together was such a blessing and I also loved building and encouraging the ACCC Youth to give of themselves as they served.

4th anniversary!

Well... it is a little past the fact but I have to post something about celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary. We celebrated our 4th anniversary, Sept. 21, 2006. I have been married to my wonderful wife, Amy, for 4 years now and I love it! Marriage is the best... Amy is such a joy in my life. She brings out the good in me and helps me recongize what I need to work on in my life. I love my Amy!!

We went to Niagara Falls for a weekend to celebrate. It was Amy's first time to see Niagara Falls. I have been there a couple of times (well, maybe a lot of times... but who is counting). It was a joy to share Amy's first time to see Niagara Falls. We took our bikes and biked around the Niagara Falls park on the American side. That was fun! I would recommend (if you are into biking) to bike around the park. We even bike around the whole Goat Island. We had dinner on the Canada side a little Italian resturant and had a coffee together at a starbucks. It was another great road trip with closest friend and lover... Big Amish Coo Coo Clock

I wasn't going to comment on this but I thought, 'why not...' Just having fun...

About a month ago we went to Amish country in Ohio with some good friends and we visited one of the largest coo coo clocks in the world (at least I think that is true). Anyways, I remember around 5 or 6 years ago I visited this coo coo clock attraction and we had to pay a $1.00 or somthing to watch the coo coo clock go off and do it's coo coo thing. Well... it was so not worth $1.00. I remember saying over and over again, 'did we really pay to watch that??' It was really lame.

Well, now 5 or 6 years later they do not charge anyone to see this big coo coo clock. It has for sure got even lamer (is that a word)! Now the clock doesn't even tell the right time and I think it has lost some of the people or things that used to move when the coo coo clock went off. Below is a video of this lame-o coo coo clock. We were trying to make the best of our Amish coo coo clock experience and watched it with joy... Enjoy as you watch... :)

Laser Quest Boasting...

Well... Last week I helped organize and lead a group of Internationals (from Akron) to go Laser Questing!! It was really fun! And it was really fun for me because I got 3rd place out of around 25 players!!! YEAH!!! It was my first time every doing that well. I was pretty amazed by my laser questing skills...

However, it always happens to me when I go laser questing that I get a blister on my shooting finger. I think I pull the trigger too much or something... But hey, whatever it takes to win! No pain no gain!!! HA!! :)

Cleveland Indians Game

Went to the a Cleveland Indians Baseball game a couple of days ago. Feeling pretty sad because we lost and I think we are pretty much on a losing streak. However, Amy and I still had a blast because we were with our friends, Brian and Sara who got free club tickets. I never want to go to a baseball game again without being in the club section (well, I might go if I am not in club section...HA). It was really nice! All the food you can eat and just a great environment! As the solgan on the Cleveland Indians dugout said, "An Experience" and that was what this baseball game was for us, an experience! Who cares if they win or lose, but the experience of being in the club section was way cool!! :)

Thinking about the Children in China

My heart is still in China... thinking and praying for the children I got to share and spend time with. I hope to go back again and love on those children more! I have been mentioning to my wife a lot that I really would like to adopt an asian child. I have talked about it before (a couple of years now) but it is becoming more and more on my heart everyday. Just really praying about it and really relying on God for His wisdom...

Still Missing China

I am still missing China and all of our experiences we had there... And missing very much the children we met and spent time with at the orphanage. We really loved those children and wanted them to know they are loved! God loves those children so much and we wanted to touch them with God's love and not just our own.

As I have been processing and reflecting on our China trip to the Orphanage Training Center I have created a couple of memory keep sakes. One is a collage of photos and notes I got from the children. I put them all together in a frame and have hanged it up in my office at home. Also, I created a couple of desktop wall papers for my computer to remember our time as well. You can check them out below. Do not want to forget my time in China! We really did love being there, serving, and loving the children!

Back from China!!

Wow! We are back from China... It has been amazing that Amy and I have been able to travel to both Uganda, Africa and then to Beijing, China in one summer. We have really become world travelers...

China was wonderful! I just loved being in China! What a great place... I miss the children at the Orphanage Training Center that we got to serve at. We had a wonderful opportunity to share God's great love with those children. They are such great children with beautiful smiles!

Count down to Uganda!

The count down for us to leave for Uganda, Africa is 2 days!! WOW! (leaving for a missions trip to Uganda with LION Players, July 7-22, 2006) I am excited and a little nervous. I am not quite sure what to expect. I know we will be performing, sharing and training another Dance/Drama team but the culture is going to be a very brand new experience, I think... One of my Korean Friends, Junho, sent me from Korea an official Korean Football (soccer) shirt. I just got it today (Thank you Junho!)... I love the shirt so much! It is so cool! I just wish the Korean soccer team was still in the world cup but they are not anymore. BUT the Korean soccer team is still # 1 in my heart! Go Korea!!

Experienced the Alive Festival 2006!

Just got back from the Alive Festival 2006... I lead some of the Chinese Youth from the Akron Chinese Christian Church that I am the youth leader of. You can check out more on our experience of Alive 06 by clicking here....

It was a fun time! We had rain, lighting and mud, but it just makes the event all the more exciting and fun to experience. A couple things I went away with this year after Alive 06 are... I love seeing "The Church;" community of believers (called out by Christ), gather as one to worship Christ! No church walls or chuch labels just "The Church!" Also, there is such a huge calling for us as believers in Christ to be SET APART and to really live out what we believe. I saw at the Alive Festival people who seemed to be believers or put on the church mask but don't really act all the time as one who is marked by Christ... David Nasser, one of the speakers at Alive 06, said that a Christian is not about changing your life but all about the complete EXCHANGE and complete renewal as a new creation (I Cor. 5:17) that should happen in a believer's life. AMEN! God, through Christ, makes us brand new... lets live it!

Done with the School Semester

Well... I am finally done with my school semester. I had some huge projects due last week but I finally got them done and finished! I am free from school for a little while and I can focus on my trips and retreats I am going on this summer (2 big overseas missions trips and 2 retreats). I think my major this semester was procrastination. It is hard balancing school stuff with ministry related stuff I do at The Chapel. There always seems to be something to do and a need in the ministry that I need to complete and assist in. And this sometimes pulls my attention away from my school work that I need to complete. I am so thankful for my schooling/seminary teaching I am receiving from Trinity International University, www.tiu.edu. It is amazing and my professors are awesome! It definitely helps me be more affective in my ministry at the church... I feel so much more affective and prepared when I teach the Scriptures and help people with their questions about life, relationship with God, and how to communicate clearly the message of the Cross of Jesus Christ.

Saying goodbye...

Well... this morning I had to start saying goodbye to some of my Korean friends who are going back to Korea after a year of building a good relationship with them. These Korean students were only going to be here for 1 year as an exchange student with the University of Akron. I got very close to some of the Korean students and now I am going through a little sadness as they leave. Sometimes I think that I should not get so close to these students so I will not go through this sadness but that is not me. To be me is to befriend and share my life and allow them to share their life with me. There is so much more reward in building into a relationship then holding back and not allowing yourself to truely connect with a person. God has put it in my being (heart) to befriend and love. One of my joys is being with Asian people. I so much enjoy my relationships with Korean people and my dream is to go to South Korea some day. I look forward to the day when I can reunite with some of my Korean friends in their country and share in their culture as they have shared in my culture. I miss all those who have left and gone back to their home of South Korea... But I cherish the memories and relationships and would never want to take it back or change what I built into the relationship. The JOY is too great. "Thank you God for putting in my heart your love to love others." Another season or page turned in relationships...

IN The World for Christ

I love this quote I found by C.T. Studd (a great missionary in the late 19th and early 20th century...

"Some wish to live within the sound of a chapel bell; I wish to run a rescue mission within a yard of hell."

I want to be a man for Christ taking HIM to the world where ever I go and sharing HIM always (through life, actions, words, and relationships). I do not want to just live in some Christian bubble and be comfortable, but truly live my life IN this world as a witness for Christ and being changed always by God's love and holiness. I want to go and BUILD RELATIONSHIPS with those who do not know Christ and share His teachings with them.
However, It is a fine line that as followers of Christ we need to draw and not be so much IN the world that we become OF the world. Holiness is always our goal (I Peter 1:15). I think about the prayer of Jesus for his disciples... "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world bu that you protect them form the evil on. they are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth of your word" (John 17:15-17). We need to live lives that show we are being sanctified.... Those who are believers and followers of Christ...keep being IN the world for Christ and never stop being changed by Christ everyday! Here is another great quote from C.T. Studd, which was his life mission statement:

""If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him."

I am such a techie guy... I love new tech stuff and seeing how I can use technology to help me in what I do. So... I got a new cell phone and I love it! Check it out!

It is a camera phone! And it has blue tooth capabilities, which is really sweet because my Powerbook G4 has blue tooth built in. So I can transfer files, photos, videos (yeah this phone even captures video), calendar, and contact info from my computer with ease and NO WIRES, through blue tooth. It works great! Pets...

Well... last night my wife and I went out for our date night and we ended up at the mall just walking around and spending a wonderful time together. At one point Amy (my wife) wanted to go to a store and look for something but I asked if I could just keep walking around as she looked around that one particular store and then I would be right back. So I just walked around and soon I was pulled into the pet store. Yes, I am a dog and cat lover!! Before I was just a dog lover but ever since I got a cat for my wife about a year ago I have now turn into a cat lover. I used to be afraid of cats but now I understand them and our cat, Darla, is a ball of fun!
So back to the pet store... I am in the pet store and I see a very cute 3 or 4 month old golden retriever. He was cute and I really wanted to take him home. I asked if I could see the dog and they were able put me in a little play room with the dog and I just had too much fun playing with the golden retriever...
Well...by this time Amy wondered where I was and I had to go and track her down because I didn't have my cell phone and she wasn't in the store where I left her. Anyways, we reconnected and I showed Amy the cute golden retriever and we had a GREAT evening together! Below are some pics of our cute cat, Darla.

Long time no post...

I know I know... It has been way too long since I sent a posted anything. I am bad. I am going to do it more but I just had a few distractions. I went through a computer upgrade. From a 12 inch Mac iBook G4 to a 15 inch Powerbook G4. I bought my Powerbook from ebay and I had a little trouble with the seller of my Powerbook but finally worked it out and got a good deal. I sold my iBook to a friend that I work with at The Chapel pretty quick so it really worked out for me to get this nice upgrade to a Powerbook G4. I have to day I really like my Powerbook. It is just flat out SWEEEETTT! I am making more movies, recording more music and doing other stuff more! I am happy with it. Also, I went through a website upgrade as well. I now have much more website storage and more features to work with through my website. And as you probably noticed I did a little face lift of my website, toddsplace.net. So there are a couple of my distractions that have kept me from posting.

Well... I don't think I have yet expressed on my blog my wonderful fascination with good starbucks coffee. Yes, I am addicted to starbucks coffee. Well, not addicted but really like it alot! :) I have found the best whole bean blend I like to brew at home is the Guatemala Casi Cielo. It is the best! Bruce Lee...

Yesterday my wife, Amy, bought me a old Bruce Lee movie from the cheap rack at Wal Mart (my favorite store!). It was a surprise and such an expression of love to me from my wife, because I know Amy doesn't reallly like Kung Fu movies and she knows I do. Thanks Honey! Well.... I watched it and it was way cool. It was a documentary of Bruce Lee and others that have Imitated him. I found out that Bruce Lee died at age 32. He was a legend of his time. And there was an hour long of classic Kung Fu fighting. It was pretty cool in a classic sense... It was old school style of filming but the martial arts was still fun to watch. I think Kung Fu and other martial arts are such an art form. And when they put it in film it is a great way to appricate the art. I think the Karate Kid movies started me off on enjoying martial arts movies (however now, I think the Karate Kid movies are just plain funny to watch). If you get a chance to watch a martial arts movie, watch it through the eyeglasses of appreciating the art of it.

I am really loving what I am doing now. I work full time as a Intern for The Chapel in Akron, Ohio and I do ministry to International students and I am the Youth Leader and English ministry of the Akron Chinese Christian church that meets at The Chapel. Today, I am helping international students who attend the University of Akron. I helped a Turkish student by getting him a desk and chair for his new apartment and I helped a Chinese grad student who has a family by getting him a bed for his new house he is living in. I love helping out these students by meeting needs in their life. A lot of times they ask me why I want to help them and I say, "because God has helped and loved me so much. I in-turn am motivated by that love to do what He commands in helping others. This is a way to show my love and worship for God." Sometimes I get nods of "yes I agree" and some other times they want to know more and other times they will change the subject. In all of it is a great way to share my faith in God with these students. It is also such great way to build relationships in order to share more. I enjoy my relationships very much with each of these students! Also, today I got to help an Indian student who acquired cancer a little while ago and now is going through chemo treatments. I drove him to the hospital for a check up today. My heart aches for him that he would get better soon and that he would know that God can help him through all this. His mom was so kind to me that when we arrived back at his home she made me an indian lunch and that very delicious! They were both so kind to me. I hope to continue to build my relationship with them. I will be taking him to the hospital again tomorrow and next week. What wonderful opportunities I have as I serve with The Chapel. Thank you God for allowing me to do this job!

Today I read in the Bible, Exodus chapter 1, the phrase "feared God," which made a impact in my heart. I really want to be a man who fears God. Who is totally in awe of who God is and realizing that everything I have and am doing is from almighty God. In the book of Proverbs 22:4 it says, "Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life." This is key! I desire for the fear of Lord to be deep in my heart and overflow in my life and interactions with people. God is calling His people to be his humble servants. I bow and surrender my life to His Lordship, my Creator and Master...

Hot Days....

Man... It has been HOT these past couple of days. I have loved it!! I just enjoy riding my bike and taking in all the sun I can. I do miss my Jeep I used to have. This is the first summer without my Jeep since sold it. I miss having my top down and enjoying the sun as I drive. However, I do have a car with a sun roof but my wife, Amy, drives that most of the time. I sometimes drive the car just because of the sun roof. I love the sun!

Greetings again... I am testing everything out on how to post entries to my blog and now I am trying to post text via my MAC dashboad. I am becoming a better MAC user everyday. I don't hold grudges against PCs (I even own a PC), but I have found the MAC to be fun, easy and productive to use. The new OS, TIGER, is great and the Daskboard Wigets are a fun feature that I am using now to post an entry to my blog. Well... I need to enjoy more of this great weather. It is sunny and 84 degrees out!
